Sleeping Well

I struggled to sleep well for many years after trauma. Trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, nightmares, anxiety attacks upon awakening, as much as I slept, I wasn’t resting. I talked to doctors and they just prescribed more pills. I had awful side effects and knew there had to be a better way.

One time a doctor prescribed me a “more natural medicine” and it was a lavender pill. I hated it, it gave me burps and tasted like perfume. I told a nurse about this and the next day she brought me a bottle of real lavender oil from her farm. I slept through the night for the first time in years.

After that I was hooked, I still diffuse lavender every night before bed.

my current sleepy rhythm is

  • magnesium - I love Moon Juice or Calm

  • diffusing Lavender + Northern Lights Black Spruce

  • sleepyize (ya the kid’s roller) on my feet, over my heart, on my wrists, and on my palms to inhale

  • eye mask

  • cozy blanks + all the pillows

  • CBD can be very helpful too, love the CBD Calm roller

extra tools when sleep feels more difficult

  • getting out of bed to stretch + release tension from your body

  • mediation - really love the Chani app for these

  • white noise / sound machine
